Compression sleeves are what called to the garments that are fitted often to leg or arm and with stretchable and elastic nature. Treating the pain and swelling associated with lymphedema is among their purposes. Another known use for compression sleeves is usually seen in exercising and sports. When these sleeves are used for such activities, it helps in stabilizing the muscles and keep them from bouncing.

Lymphedema is actually a type of swelling that is taking place in arm but occasionally in multiple limbs. Lymphatic fluid that has accumulated in tissue is either known as primary or secondary lymphedema. Users should be awake when wearing compression sleeves but there are some exceptions to this matter like where it’s wet such as dish washing, bathing and swimming as it can lead to skin irritation. When doing physical activities, the sleeve is a lot more effective and should be worn always. It is suggested to moisturize the skin when wearing such most especially at night when the sleeve is removed before going to sleep.

You should at least have 2 sleeves that should be worn alternated. They might be washed in lukewarm or cold water with mild soap, ideally after every use. Then after, lay it out flat to dry and must never be wrung. About 2 times per year, you should consider replacing them due to stretching. There are many colors, weights and fabrics that are available for compression sleeves and there are also compression gloves that are available for swollen hands.
